The Underline Is On The Move!

September 16, 2015
by Meg Daly

Last week, we joined other park advocates and civic innovators at the American Planning Association’s Florida Conference panel: Get Up & Get Moving: Advocating for Parks & Open Space Anywhere!  To get the audience excited about leading their own public space project we shared some lessons learned from our park initiatives including The Underline, Ludlam Trail, Miami Foundation’s Public Space Challenge and a neighborhood playground in Schenley Park.

Some of the lessons learned were: 1. Surround yourself with people who know more than you do; 2. Find other champions and advocates to work with you; 3. It’s a marathon not a sprint; 4. Make sure you have successes to show progress and momentum; and 5. Work with others on a united front.
