The Village of Pinecrest passes a resolution to endorse the GreenLink at its May 13, 2014 Meeting. The Resolution reads:
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE GREENLINK PROPOSAL FOR CREATING A 10-MILE LINEAR PARK ALONG THE METRORAIL CORRIDOR FROM BRICKELL STATION TO DADELAND SOUTH STATION;
WHEREAS, the Friends of the GreenLink have proposed an initiative to transform the land underneath Metrorail into a contiguous 10-mile walking, biking, exercise path, and linear park from the Brickell Station to the Dadeland South Station; and WHEREAS, the GreenLink proposal will provide a world-class mobility corridor with widened, straightened paths and crosswalks that protect the users; and WHEREAS, in other locations (i.e. High Line in New York City), similar projects have contributed to increased values for adjacent properties; and WHEREAS, Metrorail has a capacity deficiency and the GreenLink may boost ridership; and WHEREAS, this improvements will increase green space; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PINECREST, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Village recognizes the numerous economic, social, health, and environmental benefits that would be realized from the development of a linear park underneath the Metrorail from the Brickell Station to the Dadeland South Station and supports the GreenLink proposal. Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
