In the first of an ongoing series of features about The Underline, SOMI Magazine, the magazine about everything “South Miami”, The Underline is the front cover article in the publication’s April/May issue.

Writer Donna Shelley explores the history of the M-Path, why Miami-Dade County needs the Underline as a transportation solution and much-needed green space, the existing status and projected progress, and The Underline’s historical context with other great linear parks.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava is quoted “Creating bike paths and lands on major corridors will encourage the people of Miami Dade County to get out of their cars by creating a safe area for riders.  The Underline will serve that purpose by becoming another option to travel along US-1 and will double as a beautiful green space where residents can enjoy our county’s uniques environment and engage with their communities.”

Miami Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez adds “Cycling is an alternative method of transportation and The Underline is proof of our commitment to this.”
