The Underline Receives Two Prestigious Design Awards

Architizer A+Award and AIANY + ASLANY Transportation + Infrastructure Design Excellence Awards recognize The Underline’s Brickell Backyard for its architecture and community impact.

Miami, FL- The Underline’s Brickell Backyard has been awarded the prestigious 2022 Architizer A+Award for Architecture + Urban Transformation and the AIANY + ASLANY Transportation + Infrastructure Design Excellence Award. Since its opening in February 2020, The Underline now boasts four reputable design awards, previously having won the Monocle Magazine 2021 Best Urban Design Intervention Award and the 2022 ASLA NY Merit Award.

The 10th Annual Architizer A+Awards is the industry’s largest accolade with the broadest international reach, and honors the best architecture and urban spaces from across the world. The awards jury committee selected The Underline’s Brickell Backyard out of entries from around the world for its innovative and impactful contemporary architecture.

The AIANY + ASLANY Transportation + Infrastructure Design Excellence Award recognizes built and unbuilt projects by national architects, landscape architects, and planners for their design, innovation, and impact. The Underline’s Brickell Backyard competed in the “Open Space” category winning the Honor Award. James Corner Field Operations’ unique design for Brickell Backyard is a welcoming green space for nearly 400,000 residents that live within a 10-minute walk of the project’s ½ mile first phase.park and urban trail. This high level of achievement honors The Underline for transforming existing infrastructure that separates communities into an inclusive connector that celebrates diversity while improving pedestrian safety and health.
